Hyaluronic acid is on nearly every label, which makes it easy to assume it is all the same. It is not. The single most important thing about a hyaluronic acid is something the front of the bottle rarely tells you: the size of the molecule.

One molecule, many sizes

Hyaluronic acid comes in a range of molecular weights. Larger molecules sit nearer the surface, holding water there and smoothing the immediate look of the skin. Smaller molecules settle into the upper layers, hydrating a little deeper. A formula built on only one size does only one of those jobs.

Why multi-molecular is the point

By combining several molecular weights, hydration is delivered across more than one level of the skin's surface at once. The result feels different: plumper and dewier immediately, but also more comfortable for longer, rather than that tight feeling a single, surface-only hyaluronic can leave once it dries down.
